US Income distribution: Check out http://lcurve.org ! The insight (discovery) behind this website came up in my physics class while discussing the Rodney King rioting in Los Angeles. The gross scale of the maldistribution issue hit me and my students simultaneously as we attempted to estimate the income distribution curve based on minimal data. I immediately recognized that virtually nobody in the population is mathematically cognizant of the issue, although it should be taught explicitly. I struggled for several years to find a way to even convey the insight ... the logarithmic zoom of a linear graph on this website is the result.
